Airside’s pack for
Granimator is now available
here.
Granimator is lovely free app that allows you to create sound based wallpaper for your
iPhone or
iPad.
Developed by the clever folks at ustwo, it recently featured in the What’s Hot for iPads section of the US iTunes App store.

To help launch the app, ustwo asked Airside to create a themed Granimator pack. The idea behind Airside’s pack is to give the user creative freedom that is guided by certain rules to ensure that any arrangement they come up with will looks great.
Or in the words of our Interaction Designer Guy Moorhouse: “Our pack works on an isometric grid where shapes can always be made to interlock when rotated or scaled. These rules will make creating lovely patterns easier.”

Airside’s Granimator pack is called Eyejazz and along with visuals by our crack team of designers, it features exclusive new music by Fred Deakin of Lemon Jelly and superstar DJ fame.
Eyejazz is available to
download now for your
iPhone or
iPad from the
App Store. To get a taste of what’s possible, check out some more
Eyejazz creations
here.

We bring you news from the ever-busy world of ex-Airsider
Richard Hogg, who has designed a brilliant new video game.
Poto & Cabenga is a lovely one-button game that was recently short-listed for a
One Button Game Competition held by
Gamma IV. The One Button Game short-list all featured at the
Indie Games launch party that kicked off last month’s
Game Designers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco.
Airside’s West Coast posse met up with Richard at the party, where we failed miserably to be any good at his game. We did try to cheer ourselves up by playing our own in-a-room-full-of-video-game-developers games, namely Spot the Girls and Extract Yourself From Conversations With Networking Nerds. Sadly we weren’t much good at those either and consequently, we now have lots of business cards from guys with feminine features.

Anyhoo, Poto & Cabenga proved to be very popular amongst the gamers attending the launch party, and it also featured as part of the Gamma IV showcase at the GDC Expo.

While we cannot say much at this stage, Airside and Vitsœ have been working together to create something very special indeed.
For 50 years Vitsœ has created and crafted furniture that has proved to be the very model of modern, sustainable living. Designed by Dieter Rams during the early 1960’s, Vitsœ’s shelves and chairs were conceived to be timeless and Airside has been working with Vitsœ to spread this message around the world.
More news will be released in the coming weeks, but until then we thought it would be fun to post this little sketch Dieter did for us during our first meeting.

Paul Neave has some great Flash experiments worth playing with, like the one above where balls bounce in response to input from your computer microphone.

There is nothing to say about Japanese toilets other than the fact that they are brillliant.
On a separate note, we’re finishing up working tomorrow for Christmas / New Year break. Tools will be upped once again on Monday 5th January. Thank you for watching. Airside x
