Design Evening Interviews with Airside

April 27, 2010

When Anne and Alex visited Denmark , they took part in Republikken’s Design Evening Interviews. The video is now available to watch.

Our favourite bit is where Alex has to leave the room while Anne is asked a series of questions. When Alex returns he is asked the same questions. Will they give the same answers? It’s all very Family Fortunes.

Noise of Art presents KinderTransport

April 15, 2010

Tonight, BFI Southbank hosts the opening of Noise of Art’s new audio-visual sculpture, KinderTransport. Inspired by the mission that rescued 10,000 Jewish children from Nazi Germany between 1938-40, the sculpture is by Ralph Koltai CBE, celebrated artist and Kindertransport survivor.

After its London debut, the artwork will tour the UK, along with the European departure points of the Kindertransport trains. At each installation a new AV work by a contemporary artist will reflect on Kindertransport and the benefits the Kinder brought to the world.

The London leg features a contribution by our own Fred Deakin, who has produced new music and visuals especially for the show. AV work by project creator Ben Osborne will also be showing.

KinderTransport is running at The Atrium in London's BFI Southbank from 15th-25th April 2010.

For more details see the BFI website.

Coming soon: the Airside Granimator pack for iPads

April 06, 2010

Contrary to expectations, the iPad is not Apple’s stylish entry to the feminine hygiene market, but a rather cool cross between a laptop and a smart phone. At least, we assume it is. We haven't seen one yet, but that hasn’t stopped us designing something for it.

Granimator is a brilliant free app that allows you to create audio-visual wallpaper for your iPhone or iPad, through clever use of the touch screen. Developed by ustwo, Granimator recently featured in the What’s Hot for iPads section of the US iTunes App store.

To help launch Granimator, ustwo invited six designers, including Pete Fowler and Jon Burgerman, to create themed Granimator packs. Airside has always incorporated sound elements in our design work so we were delighted to contribute. We’re currently putting the finishing touches to our Granimator pack, which will be available soon.
