
The brief was to create a number of information films that could be played during presentations and at trade shows, as well as featuring on the Moblin website. Although the target audience is primarily manufacturers, Moblin also wanted the films to appeal to the end customer in order to create awareness and stimulate demand for Moblin as a standard pre-installed OS.

Working with their campaign team, Airside established what information needed to be communicated, how many films were required and then came up with the concepts for each one. As these ideas took shape, our designers started working on the visual elements, so the script and design informed each other throughout the process.
We decided to create two short animations – one, a basic introduction to Moblin, the second a character-based film showing the benefits of Moblin in everyday life. Airside’s content team wrote both scripts, while the designers created characters and a world that suited the visual style of Moblin.
After the animation was completed, Airside commissioned the soundtrack, sound fx and voice-over.

After viewing the finished films Moblin asked to use the characters within the OS itself. They also commissioned Airside to design T-shirts and stickers featuring the characters to use as promotional material at trade shows, as well a T-shirt for Moblin staff based on a line from the script.
