The Pet Shop Boys wanted a new website with lots of functionality and a simple design aesthetic.

The look of the site is clean and minimal, and looks very 'Pet Shop Boys' without directly referring to any particular release. The site is simple and functional, with all information easy to access, like a newspaper, from the front page. Text, sound and moving image are integrated into every page.

The technology behind the site has been constructed to allow the user to flow in and out of the site's content-managed information without delay, fuss or long download times. The site has been built around Flash templates that are fully adaptable and customisable. This has given the Pet Shop Boys a website that is simple to navigate and quick to load whilst maintaining complete content management control via CMS database.

The CMS also allows the Pet Shop Boys to send text and photo messages direct from their mobile phones to the website, which they do on an almost daily basis keeping the site very much alive and giving the fans specialised content.

The website has been entered for numerous awards and to date, has won three awards as well as nominations and recommendations.

"When deciding to redesign our site, we approached Airside because we were impressed by their work for the White Cube gallery site. We briefed them as to what we wanted and they responded with a very cool and efficient design, including a particularly popular function, Petexts, which enables Chris and I to text picture messages from our mobile phones direct to the site."
